IVF in your 40s

I was recently told different things by two different doctors. Not sure what to think. Maybe someone can help explain.

One doc said I should go straight to

IVF given my age (40) and conceiving trouble. He said IUI isn’t really worth the money.

Another doc said, IUI is a better bet for older women. He said that older eggs are extremely fragile, and that most of not all don’t make it past removal to make

IVF worth the time and money.

What have you all heard re IVF and eggs in your forties, what are IUI vs IVF prices in your area?
