Does egg extraction hurt 😞?

I read online that it’s a long needle that goes right into the ovary. I know they sedate you but what does it feel like? Anything would help 🙏

I was out under general anesthesia. No pain or discomfort at all after either. Just had a really good 20 min nap.

I was sedated. They screwed up my IV also and the fluid was going into my hand and not my vein had a fat hand for two days. I had discomfort afterwards and took me ages to wake up. The car ride home (an hour) was horrible the next day was okay just a cramp if i moved too quick

It wasn’t painful. It feels strange and at times a bit uncomfortable but nothing that lasts long or that I would say painful. I was more excited about the idea of how many possible eggs they would get.

I was not sedated. I was given a pain pill 2 hours prior but it didn’t do anything tbh. I was also given an injection to help with bleeding that will make your mouth dry. My husband purposely blocked my view of the needle. He said it was huge. (Obviously) Is it fun? No. But I could tolerate it. Most important thing is to focus. Focus on anything you set your eyes on, and keep your mind on the big picture. That’s what helped me. And it really is over fairly quickly! I had 29 eggs retrieved, I’d say it was 15, maybe 20 minutes. At first it felt like a Pap, uncomfortable. And as my Dr suctioned, it would get pretty uncomfortable for a few seconds, but I could handle it. Some parts hurt worse than others. I can’t even explain what it felt like. But, I really loved being able to see what was going on on ultrasound and hearing them communicate. And they talked to me the entire time. The embryologist would count aloud as my Dr was suctioning, so I knew how many eggs the whole time! It was pretty awesome to witness. Afterwards, the nurses took care of me and gave me snacks and checked my vitals. I was out the door shortly after getting finished!
