Anyone else?

Question

So sometimes ill be taking a nap with my baby and I just randomly will wake up to check him. Sometimes I wake up and he has a frown on his face...then moments later he will start crying this really sad cry. I'll pick him up and try to soothe him but it'll take a little to calm him down. He's done this a few times since turning 7 weeks. He's now 8 weeks. Do they have nightmares? Or is he just wanting to be held?

My baby started doing this around 10 weeks and it kind of scared me at first. I wondered if it could be nightmares too, but I think it's probably just gas or something that would have woken her up when she was smaller, since she's sleeping for longer stretches now. 
Putting a hand on her chest or giving her a pacifier will usually calm her down, and seems to work better than picking her up for me, since waking up makes her more upset. Sometimes I hum her favorite lullaby too so she can hear my voice, not sure how much that helps though.

Kids dont have imaginations until around 2 theynsay thatsbwhen they start having bad dreams but id say give it 2 ninute sif hes still fussing pick him up babaies do that alot TakingCaraBabies recommends waiitng five minutes for older babies if theyre still awake then gonconsole them but give newborns a minute or two and see ifnthey calm down my 9 week old is self soothing she will fuss and by the time I get her shes alreadyndozed back off
