How long should you wait?

Curious ,how long would you wait in your relationship for your partner to pop the question? How long is too long and will you end your relationship over it?

That’s completely up to the two of you. Every relationship is different and you can’t really put timelines or anyone else’s expectations on your relationship.

Really depends on how old you both are. Under 25 I’d say about 5 years over 25 I’d wait 2-3 over 30 no more than 1 year. That’s just how I feel though.

That’s a discussion you and your partner need to have as it’s different for every relationship.
I personally wouldn’t say yes to a proposal before being together *at least* 2 years, but I also wouldn’t want to wait 10 years. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
The important thing is that you need to have these types of discussions with your partner and be clear about each of your expectations.

well tbh i’m 25, and me and my boyfriend have been together since I was 18. I said by this time next year if i’m not at least engaged, i’m leaving. I don’t want to waste my time in a relationship that isn’t going to progress and i’m not going to wait around for it.

If we are not talking about marriage after 2 years and propose in 3 years it's enough for me, don't late anybody waste your youth.. Too long is ,5,6,7 years of dating and still on the gf/fiance stage for me.

I told my now husband if he didn’t know he wanted to marry me after a year, he should break up with me and if he wasn’t planning to propose after 2 he could do the same. I knew what I wanted and I wasn’t willing to waste my time.

That’s a very personal decision. Only you and you’re partner know your relationship and where it’s headed. Example, my husband proposed after dating three months (we had known each other and been friends for over ten years prior). We knew it was right and didn’t waste any time. Other people felt it was too fast, but it was perfect for our relationship. 
I also know my sister dated her husband for about five years before getting engaged. He was saving up for a house and a ring before proposing. Each relationship is different.
Have you had a conversation about the future?

I'm 7.5 years into a relationship and he has never asked me to marry him. We briefly discussed it about  5 years ago and he said in 2 years we'd be married. We've watched (or he's had not choice in watching) tonnes of episodes of say yes to the dress and i had said I'd love both our mothers to be there (dad's both passed). Still I don't think he got the message.  I think I've waited so long now that I don't care anymore and feel what's the point in spending the money on 1 day. Even as I write that though I get a little twinge of sadness that I'm not married to him yet or ever. His mother passed this week so the idea of having both our mother's there is gone now anyway 😔

Like the other comments are saying, that depends on you and your partner. I know very happy couples and marriages who were together 3 months and decided to get married, and I know some who dated for years beforehand. I also know people who ended marriages bc they rushed into them and didn’t fully know the person and turns out they weren’t the one, and I know some who were dating/living together for 7 years, engaged for 3, and got divorced 7 months after getting married. It’s a personal decision and commitment. I say, when you’re absolutely sure about someone. That means talking to them, being with them, you can have tons of fun with them and also be serious, you can be completely in love and also sometimes fight and disagree. But if through it all you still love and always respect the other and couldn’t even imagine your life with someone else, then I’d be ready to marry them. But there’s no set time.
