Have you ever put powdered formula directly into the purees?

Hi everyone, my LO is not finishing all his bottles, some only the half, and as he is not gaining as much weight as the Dr  would want, I'm worried about it getting worse. 
I read online that you could mix powdered formula directly to the purees after heating them. It gives them the nutrients but not the liquid. 
Has anyone heard or done this, ever??

I mixed formula with oatmeal instead of just water when my boy started refusing a bottle. I also would mix a bit of purée into his oatmeal

I recently started doing this! My 7.5 month old is good on weight and such but hes a picky eater... so i mix in a half a scoop.

How old is baby? When I would make my daughter oatmeal I used formula to replace water. But it was mixed with water so it wasn't straight powder. Consult the doctor. If baby isn't gaining weight the doctor should be giving ideas on things to try (at least my daughter's pediatrician did)
