Tips on getting LO to sleep on other side of head?

Question

My baby only sleeps with his head turned to the side, never on the back of his head. He always sleeps on his back though. He majorly favours one side and I’m starting to get worried about him having a flat spot on that side of the head. My doctor recommended turning him around in his bassinet but that doesn’t work. I try turning it to the other side but he will switch it back. Any suggestions?

Ugh same! We are just trying to hold her on the other side. Like I normally hold her with my left so I'm trying to hold her more with my right. I've tried waiting until she's in a good sleep and rolling her head to the other side but she just moves it back lol

This is what I used for both my kids.

I’ve been using the flat head pillow that I bought for my firstborn. Once baby shows signs of flipping, then it’s time to remove it. 
My firstborn had a super flat head and once I started using that flat head pillow, it was much better within a month. He still has a slight flatness to his head, but I honestly can’t tell if it’s truly for his bed being flat or his skull shape. My husband has that same look to his head. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We take our guy to the chiropractor and she works on his neck to have him be comfortable with both sides. He had some kind of ligament or muscle that needed relaxing.. he uses both sides and looks straight up now, where as before it was only the right side.

My pediatrician mentioned that at his one month appointment. She just said to exercise it.

My little man was starting to get a flat head on the right. I feel like at night we can’t really control it, I do put his night light where he has to turn his head to the left and that works because he enjoys looking at it. More importantly during the day do lots of tummy time and neck stretching. Positioning him to look at more interesting things on the left side when playing. I’ve done research and read that their skulls are very “moldable” up to a year so I don’t think it’s too late to change it!  I at one point bought a head positioning pillow that he could use while awake and laying down but honestly he was still able to turn his head in it.

For my oldest  I always rolled up a swaddle and put it long ways and had their back up against it so they’re at a slight tilt. He would spit up a lot and I was worried about him choking on it in the night. You could maybe do that and alternate sides

Nothing really besides turning the bassinet my little guy is starting physical therapy and is probably going to need a helmet his flat spot is pretty bad, doesn’t mean you are a bad mom, the flat spots and helmets have increased because we now put baby on back and they are safest that way so don’t think you’re doing anything wrong, it just happens and Is really common. Try to stretch baby’s neck the other way and talk to your ped
