Are you going to get professional photos done for 1st birthday?

I'm thinking of doing my own photos.. I heard its important to get professional ones for the first year but I don't want to spend the money and I feel like I can take just as good. What is everyone else doing?

Because of prematurity we’ve technically already had little miss’ first birthday although it’s not supposed to be until October. We were going to do professional photos but ended up in full lock down because of covid. We’re still in full lock down now, pretty much not allowed from our houses, but we’re hoping by her due date and when she should have been one we will be out so we can do photos then. The photographer is also mumma of a 26 weeker, so they’ll be extra special.

We are doing family photos a few weeks before he’s 1 - but it also works out for our Christmas cards. We’re just going to do a little photo shoot for his one year though. We did our own with 6 month and 9 month pictures and I absolutely love how they turned out!

I am a pro photographer, with an almost 10 month old. Thank goodness so I don't have to worry about taking him anywhere. But with my first 10 years ago I was in a different field and did take him somewhere. You can't get that milestone back. Only one first birthday! The photographer should be following all state guidelines, wearing a mask, sanitizing. Do a shoot outside to minimize risk.

We got a package deal as a gift to the photographer I wanted. So we did newborn, 6 month, 9 month and 1 year photos. But due to COVID it actually ended up being 7 month and 10 month photos. We’re also doing family photos a few weeks before his 1 year photos since we don’t have any photos of the 3 of us since our photos in the hospital. And even those photos, my SO parents are in a lot of them too
