Short period with IUD? TMI

Question

I have had my IUD in for about a year now, and I have had my period, however they're very short and light like a couple days at most. But, yesterday I got my period but it only lasted yesterday, my boyfriend and i did have sex that morning. It was unprotected with the exception of the IUD. Should i be concerned about anything?? Please help in any way you can.

Assuming you have a hormonal iud, shorter, lighter, less frequent or missed periods are all normal. This is listed in the side effects of your iud’s pamphlet (available online). For the record, unprotected sex is not when you have sex on birth control without a condom. Raw or condomless sex is an accurate way to describe it, since unprotected means no pregnancy or std protection was used.
