Is this considered cry it out?

So I never really though this was considered cry it out until someone said something about it. Okay so for naps and bed time I put my baby in her crib and I sing to her and rub her stomach, she usually cries for a little bit before falling asleep. Is this cry it out? I’m not leaving her and I’m singing and soothing her until she falls asleep.

Cry it out doesn’t make you a bad mom. Period. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We did “cry it out” sleep training at 7 months (after months of building good habits got derailed by Christmas travels) and it was one of the best things I ever did. Now my guy is a great sleeper and I get to sleep too, which makes me a better mommy. Do what makes sense for your family and don’t worry about the labels. If you and baby are happy the way things are, then great! You’re doing awesome. 👏🏻👍🏻😘

This is why the term cry it out is super unhelpful and misleading. I wouldn’t call what you did “cry it out” but I would call it a gentle first step to help baby learn independent sleep.

I typically think of CIO as leaving bub to cry without any comfort from you. There will be times when your baby cries even when you're with them, so try not to worry too much about definitions and just do what feels right. 😊

I don’t think so because you’re still there and they’re just tired. Idk if I’m right or not, but I consider cry it out to be a little longer of a time period. Like my daughter would cry for 5 mins and be asleep but I wouldn’t say I did cry it out.

Kind of I guess, but If you walked out of the room and let her cry alone and go to sleep without you, that would be more of a  cry it out method
