How old is too old for a promise ring?

My bf of 2 years gave me a promise ring but I was expecting an engagement ring. I know I shouldn’t have been expecting but we talk about marriage a lot and we are currently saving for a house in the spring. I am 28 and he is 31. I’m not ungrateful I love it but it dawned on me that I also have not heard of anyone our age getting a promise ring and thought maybe it was a red flag 🚩. So my question is how old is too old for a promise ring?

Anything over 17.
If you’re 18 or older, you’re an adult.
Just wait for a real engagement ring and commitment, or don’t bother.

I agree with 17 or 18 😬 I'd be upset if I was getting ready to buy a house with a man and he gave me a promise ring instead of an engagement ring. If I'm moving in and seriously talking marriage with somebody at that age, I already know there's a promise haha. Make it official... Engagements can be long 🤷‍♀️ I don't get the point of adult promise rings lol

If you’re saving for a house I’d say it’s a nice place holder until he can get a ring and you guys can focus on engagement. I personally would say it’s a nicer gesture then waiting however long it takes to find a house get settled then save back up for a ring 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I guess that seems to be the unpopular opinion here lol definitely something to discuss before buying a house though if it’s that much of an issue

Yeah I had one when I was a teen but that clearly didn’t mean shit cause he was still a liar and a cheater 😂 I’m an adult now and would be irritated as hell if my man got me a promise ring??? Like what??? We’re almost 30 it’s time for the real deal or no deal is how I view it.

Personally, I find them tacky. 
I would rather get any other type of jewelry that held the same meaning. Like a necklace or bracelet or maybe even a charm to go with something I already use.

My husband gave me a promise when we were 28 I thought it was a super cute gesture I’ve never gotten one before and then he proposed when we were 29 and got married when we were 30 I think it’s super cute and made me feel good that he promised me he’d eventually propose to me it helped me feel like he was serious and I wasn’t wasting my time
