Does unprotected sex count as ttc?

Question

My husband and I have been together for years. We first started having sex exactly 1 year ago. We were having unprotected sex (we weren’t actively ttc but we didn’t mind falling pregnant) but I wasn’t tracking ovulation/paying attention to my fertile window etc. 
we have been actively trying to conceive for almost 7 cycles now with no luck. 
What I’m asking is: have I been ttc for a year or for 7 months ?? Bc if the unprotected sex we would have “counted” as trying to conceive then should I see a Dr Bc it’s been one year of ttc with no luck? Or should I wait until it really hits 1 year of actively ttc?

If you’re not tracking ovulation, then I wouldn’t count this as actively trying to conceive. Just sounds like you weren’t trying but weren’t preventing. 
If you start tracking ovulation with test strips and using a BBT chart, you can usually see a doctor after 1 year of trying. Many women fall pregnant within a couple of months of tracking ovulation. But it can still have a year or more for a perfectly healthy couple to get pregnant.

Not necessarily. People can simply can not want to use contraceptives, but also not want kids (although I feel like this is a topic that is debated a lot) I think intention matters though.
