Regular video baby monitor vs smart phone connected?

I’m debating whether I should get a regular video baby monitor that has its own viewing screen or a system that connects to my phone? What would you recommend and why?

Smart ones can be hacked into, but oh my lanta they are so convenient! I love being able to just check my phone anywhere, even the store! It’s given me so much peace of mind. We also use a non smart one to bring to our in laws house, but I prefer the phone connection because I always have my phone with me.

My friend had this she loved it. The video ones connected to your phone are easier to hack. That why a few years ago it was on the news about people watching there babies on there wifi baby monitors that are connected to there phone go the safe way and buy one like this just do ur reschearch

I’ve always been told not to do a smart one because they can be tapped into 🤷🏼‍♀️ how true that is, idk! But I’d rather not take the risk!

Just picked a random product because I'm a FTM so haven't tried ours yet.
We chose one that will connect to our phones if we want, but also has its own screen. A friend mentioned that with the phone one, it obviously only worked when the screen was on, so she couldn't use her phone and it killed her battery.

I’ve actually used both since I started off with one that was connected to my phone. I ended up hating it since it would take forever to connect, sometimes it wouldn’t work, and if our WiFi went out I wouldn’t be able to see it. I got this one and am loving it so much more.
