Maternity leave?? How long?

Any ladies here work full time? I’m 18w3d and I’ll be working full time starting Monday. It’s a blessing! But since baby is due January, I’ll have to take time off. How long doyou plan to take off or if you did for last pregnancies? My mom said 6 weeks for a vaginal birth but that’s a long time. I’m in the US.

I work full time. I am in Canada so we get 12-18 months maternity leave. I’m going to go off on sick leave in December. Baby is due in January. I’ll be taking the 12 month maternity leave. My employer will top me up for 17 weeks then I’ll go on EI for the remainder.

I am due January 15 and get paid leave for one year (55% salary through unemployment and employer tops it up to 95%). I am also taking my 5 weeks vacation and accrued sick leave (paid at 100%), which will take me to around 14 months. I’m in Canada.

I will be using FMLA and that is 12 weeks. It’s unpaid, but I can use my PTO and short term disability offered through my job. I also added on some more short term disability that I will use. I won’t be paid as much as I would be working, but it’s enough to help my husband keep the bills covered while I’m out.

In our country, maternity leave is 4 months. My company offers 4 months as well and you can start a month your leave 4weeks before you’re due. If arranged to go back to work earlier, you can discuss that with your boss. 
 I’m due January 25th so I’ll take leave just around the week of Christmas in December, it’s unpaid however our government has maternity benefits whereby they pay you up to 60% of your salary.

Girl I’m only taking 7 weeks bc my company has NO maternity policy in place it’s all short term 5 technically 6 weeks but one of the weeks has to be PTO. anything after that is PTO or FMLA which I cannot afford to take unpaid leave. I’m pretty peeved about it. I wanted 8 weeks but I don’t know if using two of my 4 weeks of vacation is smart. 
I think the US needs better maternity and paternity leave in all honesty.

Since I’ve been working full time for years, my work gives 18 weeks paid maternity leave. I plan to use all of that since this is my first baby. Then I’ll be working part time when I go back to work.

Your dr won’t release you to return to work for a minimum of 6 weeks after you give birth. Trust me, after you have a baby, six weeks flies by!!

I’m from New Zealand, currently 22wks, I’m taking annual leave from the 14th of December to my due date (7th Jan) and then from that day taking Maternity leave, New Zealand gives 26weeks of paid maternity leave

Mine is 4 weeks before my due date and 10 weeks after my due date fully paid. Then 8 weeks where I can do 50% or 75% of a work week before returning full time. I’m discussing what I should do with my doctor about Covid tomorrow because in my department of 40 there’s 8 people out on Covid leave, I may have to go out on short term disability soon.

I took two weeks off with both of my girls and plan to take two weeks off this time around too. With that being said, I will work from home (I do marketing) for the first 8 weeks with baby by my side. This allows me to take breaks when needed. People always love getting a glimpse of the baby on video conference calls too. For me, it helps to get back to work and in a routine. I get the baby blues and work helps pull me out of that. I 100% encourage you to take as much time as you need. Your health is important so that you can keep your baby healthy.
