First time mom here and I'm really not sure if my 18month old is developing normally when it comes to talking. I just realized that she can say a ton of words but she maybe only uses a few. For example, She will try to copy almost anything we say and if asked to say a word she will try to repeat it. If I point at something and ask "what's that" she will respond back and say what the object is. What I'm not sure about is other than that she doesn't really say much on her own. Like If she sees a plane she will look up at it but doesn't just say plane.. if she see's a dog she won't just say dog I have to ask her what is that? Pretty much she doesn't really use many of her words unless we ask her what is that. The few things she does say are things such as, pulling at her diaper and says poo poo when time for a change.. She calls out mamma and dadda to get our attenion to say hi or blow kisses... She will say Elmo and point at the TV to tell us to put Elmo on... If she see's a car she will sometimes point and say vroom vroom and that's pretty much it. As I'm typing this I'm starting to think maybe I'm overthinking 👀🤷🏾‍♀️. ...Is this normal verbal development? Just seems like she should be more verbal...
