Natural Birth?✨

Question

Anyone doing a natural/Unmedicated birth? I’m a first time mom, but I’ve always imagined birthing naturally in a home style birthing center. I had my first appointment yesterday with my midwife and tour the facilities. I’m so so excited but nervous about the pain of all of it. I’m so determined and know my body is capable. Looking for some women in the same boat or have experienced a natural birth!💗 How was your experience? What would you change? Support groups? Preparation?🤩

All 4 of my babies were natural births and I wouldn’t have it any other way. When your body is ready it will do the work for you. All my births were rapid delivery’s because of no meds slowing my body down. I’m having baby number five and doing it natural as well. The one thing that helps me every time is getting out of your own head kinda like meditation.

Lovely room! My first natural birth was great. Yes it is painful, but your pain tolerance increases as well. A warm bath does wonders, yet my bath wasn’t big enough to give birth in (only thing I would change) it was taking away the pain a whole lot. Get into pregnancy yoga to learn breathing techniques, because they help you getting through contractions really well.
Next to that, don’t be hard on yourself. If you notice you’re in too much pain and don’t progress, get pain meds. I never needed them, even though around 8cm there’s a time you feel really uncomfortable but can’t get much relief (which I knew before hand) but at that point you’re sooooo close to actually holding your baby, you’ll get through that as well.

I had 2 natural births in birthing centres and i wouldnt do it any other way. It was the most painful but empowering experience you’ll ever have. Just think women did this years ago without any medication. Your body is capable of more than you could possibly imagine and you will realize that once it’s all said and done!

I’ve had 2 natural births, here in NZ you can’t opt if a c section unless there’s medical reason to so we have no choice haha. I wouldn’t have it any other way though I’d still choose natural. Like you said, your body is totally capable our bodies are made for it. The first time was really quite scary if I’m honest just because it’s a bit of the unknown - I never had any pain relief either so maybe that’s why pain relief can slow down the birth..... so I’ll be going in all natural this time again. Always in a hospital though - id always want a backup option & professional help to intervene if needed :)

That looks so nice! My daughter was an unmedicated birth with midwives at my local hospital. I labored at home for about 6-7 hours before going in. Needed the strep b antibiotics before she was born and had a very fast delivery just as the IV was finishing shortly after arriving. I want an unmedicated at the hospital again with this pregnancy if we’re fortunate enough to progress and no complications arise in laboring.

That’s a beautiful birthing room. I’ve had two natural unmedicated births and will have it the same with my current third pregnancy. Both were very different experiences. I had painful active labor because, of the pitocin by having to be induced. Second labor was much more manageable and able to breathe through with no induction at all. Being in a warm bath or birthing tub helped calm me and I was able to progress much faster. good luck!

I was so excited and ready for a natural birth with my daughter. I however failed to progress and needed a c section. One thing I wish I would have prepared myself for, was the unknown of what can happen!

I have had 3 naturally no meds and key me tell you it wasn't near as bad as people said it would be.  Im a bit of a baby when it comes to pain but if i can you can too. Our bodies are made fire this.  You can absolutely do this!!!

I had a natural birth in a hospital setting with my first. I very much recommend it and plan to have a natural/unmedicated birth again this time. The recovery was so easy. I was up and feeling pretty good within an hour of giving birth. Thankfully my delivery was pretty quick (woke up in labor at 2AM and my daughter was born at 6AM), but the very worst of the labor was the transition stage at the very end. Just hang in there through that and you'll be good. That was the point in which I wasn't sure I could make it unmedicated but I understood afterward what was happening to my body. I would go to a class or watch some videos on childbirth beforehand just to feel a bit more prepared.
