Hi, I have so many questions idek where to start but right now the one at the front of my brain is insurance, more specifically what do I do if I don’t have any 😅 please no judgement, I know it’s not ideal. I’ve called around to local obgyns around me to see if they do payment plans and the last one I called said they only do one full payment of about $3500, $5000 or more if you need additional labs, or are high risk, etc. I was told to go to the health dept, which is fine but I just didn’t know if anyone else had been in the same situation I had or had any advice. tia 💛

Same boat. Check with your dr office for HCAP. I live in Ohio and my dr is OSU. Their finance department offers payment assistance where you fill out all these questions. I work and I’m a part time student I’m 23. I’ve been working with them the past 3 years. It started with 75% off. Every 6 months I reapply. I’m now at 100% assistance and I’m so thankful. Some small stuff aren’t covered but they tell you what isn’t. My whole pregnancy is covered. Ask your dr about financial assistant program. Medicare is giving me problems right now but legally they have to give you free coverage if you’re pregnant with no insurance.

I also don’t have health insurance. 
The office I talked to went over all the prices with me. My 10 week appointment is a separate price, but then 12 weeks I pay the first half of the large payment and then 16 weeks I pay the other half. And than any additional are separate cost. The hospital bill is also separate and paid before I leave the hospital or do a payment plan for that.

Hey! No judgement at all. Insurance is expensive!!! 😳 I wish it was more affordable but unfortunately I don’t see that happening...
Most offices will have a “self pay” plan. Some require it all at once unfortunately, but some will let you pay a little bit at each visit: They’ll go over all costs with you up front though so you’re not surprised. The hospital will have their own bills, but most don’t require payment until checkout. Ours gave us a discount if we paid within 10 days of discharge. Otherwise you can most of the time do a payment plan there as well.
Something to look into is a health sharing plan. Many are faith based, but some are non-religious. They’re cheaper alternatives to insurance because they don’t cover preventative care or annual check up type visits, but do cover you in the event of an accident, major illness, or surgery. You’ll want to be careful though because some of these plans don’t cover “preexisting conditions” and pregnancy sometimes falls into that category.

Have you tried applying for Medicaid? They will go by your income. I recently had to apply for Medicaid because my husband changed to part time for help with the kids with school virtually and then with school starting to limit after school care he’s picking up the kids to save us money. So we were able to qualify for Medicaid because of the pay decrease. Before when he was full time we didn’t qualify we made too much. It doesn’t hurt to apply for Medicaid or for the Healthcare.gov

If you don’t qualify for Medicare, I’d try working with charity plans at hospitals. The one by me has the hospital and also the ob inside the hospital. So because of that, I qualify to see them and get labs and the delivery is all covered. I had to do that with my last pregnancy. Same with my husbands job, even if we paid for it, it would leave our family of 4 300 left over a check. It’s ridiculous. When I’m not pregnant, I use our community clinic, which uses  sliding scale fee. Their doctors and the pediatricians are awesome.
