Induction question.

Is it normal for a dr to wait till 39+2 to decide weather we will be inducing or not? To be fair we all assumed this baby would be here by now and I am high risk so at last weeks appt my drs said if I’m still pregnant when I go to my next appointment which is tomorrow then we will talk about our options as far as inducing. I feel like this should have been talked about and decided before now to give me time to prepare. I have never had to be induced like this so I’m also kind of nervous about what to expect from here on out.
