Number of doctor visits?

Hi! My husband and I are in the process of deciding if we want to go ahead and start the IVF process. Our doctor is a few hours away from us. How many doctors appointments do you generally have when going through IVF? I know it a is a lot. I'm trying to decide if I'll be able to keep my job while going through the IVF cycle. I just missed three weeks of work for endometriosis excision 😩Thank you for any information you can provide!

I guess it depends on your doctor but I've often seen ladies do their monitoring appointments during an ivf cycle somewhere close to home and just go to your doctor for retrieval and transfer. Not every doctor will work like this but some clinics def do and you send the results onto your doctor and he/she makes any protocol adjustments he/she sees fit.

Being totally honest, I can’t even imagine having to go to a doctor 5 hours away for IVF. You should not only get a week off (my stims were 14 days though and there’s no way to know how long you will need), you should stay at a hotel near the doctor. 
There’s no one closer you can go to??

It all depends. Im about 35-40 min away from my fertility clinic and I work bank hours they were able to schedule me very early appointments..The amount of appointments depend with how your cycle is going no way of knowing..

If it’s several hours away you may need a week off.       During stims I went on CD2 for a baseline the. cd 6 or 7 then after that everyday or every other day till retrieval.

Our doctor was 4 hrs away.. I had to see him when I started stimms but then all the visits after that he let me have ultrasounds at my regular OB office and then when it got close to retrieval I saw him maybe 2xs in his office and thankfully they had weekend hours so I think I took a Thursday and Friday off saw him Thursday and Saturday and had my retrieval on Monday morning... you’ll need at least the retrieval day off... but this all depends on what your doctor lets you do
