Do you check blood sugar by yourself or someone helps you?

Question

My husband has been helping me do the checks for past 3 weeks. Today he said, its been an inconvenience for him to wake up everyday and i have to do it from today and stopped doing it. I set everything up, all he does is click the lancet.
He works late into night everyday, not because he has to. He passes most of day just browsing and says he feel comfortable working in nights & waking up late in the morning.
He started complaining, poking me in the morning is disturbing his sleep and he wouldnt do it, especially since i have 6 more weeks to go and he is tierd of getting disturbed in his sleep. 
He keeps telling me with baby we need to take turns and he has only one week of leave. 
Its disturbing & depressing for me. Its just an inconvenience for him, its supporting for me. Some assurance i have a helping hand in this.
I do all the work, i prepare everything and all i ask is to click the lancet. I wake up and make my own snack & breakfast every single day. I wake up 4 times every night to use restroom. I cry with cramps night and day. Yes, he does help me cook & get the cooked meal to plate and some stuff. But i just cant accept how he cant take this small inconvenience for me, when i am giving everything for this baby.

I do it all myself it's not that hard. I've never asked my husband to do it. Just one poke..I hate doing it because it's just annoying lol

What lol?! I’ve never asked my husband to poke me it’s not that hard. I use to do insulin injections too by myself. It takes like 5 seconds and then it’s over.🤷🏻‍♀️

Its something you need to learn to do on your own. If further down the road you become a diabetic he isnt going to want to be woken up for something you can do yourself. Let him sleep even if he chooses to work late or would rather work late at least he is working and he is supporting you. Honestly like you said its just a push of a button. Its a pain at first but you get use to it. I check mine 7-8 times a day. And it gets easier

Sometimes my husband does it or sometimes I do I have to check four times a day and sometimes he does get annoyed about getting it ready or when it’s an inconvenience. At first I started insulin at 3 times a day and he did it only for the first few weeks because I was very scared but he got so fed up that he quit and I had to do it myself and now I actually prefer to do it because it’s less painful sometimes. He does help prep the pen at times and he always refills my pack of needles and wipes, etc that I need. I’m now up to four times blood check and four times insulin and I’m 17+5 weeks. Two weeks in a row my levels were good and today I got added some units at bedtime.

I check mine. I had to get my boyfriend to do it for me at first and I know he’d continue to do it if I really needed him to, but once you make the step forward to do it yourself you’ll learn it’s really not that bad. Just the initial anticipation was what used to bother me, not even the poke itself. Best of luck 😊

My husband does my insulin injections because I can’t fathom to do those. He did my finger pricks at first but then I got used to doing them myself. You are doing a lot for the baby and if it comforts you to have him push the button, he should happily oblige. I would be annoyed too!

I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this.
I’m very lucky to have a supportive husband who does it for me.
Some mornings I feel bad waking him up to test me, but he just goes right back to sleep.
I’m sure I’ll be able to do it myself soon, but it’s still new and scary to me.
I think poking me and watching me check my numbers makes him feel more involved in the pregnancy. He also feels like he needs to fix everything and help, so this is makes him feel like he’s providing and helping.
Maybe have a serious talk with him? Maybe you can do your fasting in the morning and he can help with the rest?
