You can take an at-home pregnancy test (like first response) after a frozen transfer, correct? Just not after a fresh transfer because the meds you take for that type of cycle could produce a false positive?

Yes since there would be a month plus in between the trigger shot.

I had a fresh transfer and tested at 7DP5DT, I didn’t want to test out my trigger so I was a little apprehensive about the result but it was a pretty strong positive, checked again at day 8 and day 10 (line got a little darker each time) so by the time I had my beta I was pretty sure of the result

Yes you can take one. 
You can take one after a fresh transfer too you just have to test your trigger out first.
