Hi! My husband and I are selling our home in Minnesota and buying a home in Nebraska. Our home was on the market for a few days, we had a buyer, the buyer fell through because of something weird on their end. The house went back on the market and a few days later we had another buyer. We all signed a purchase agreement and then we put an offer (which was accepted) on a home in NE.

Then things get weird. Our realtor (MN), whom we trust, tells us that the buyer’s realtor is asking for a lot of ridiculous stuff. Their realtor wants us to make all these updates in a VERY short amount of time (18 days) and when we offer to lower the price of the house instead, the realtor loses his mind. Our realtor was telling us that he was cussing her out, telling her she’s not allowed to speak because she’s a woman, refusing to work with us AT ALL but also not breaking the deal.

So our realtor brings in her broker and the buyer’s lender to intervene and try and talk some sense into this guy. The buyer’s lender claims the buyers want to buy our house but their realtor is combative.

So we made the offer to lower the price of the house instead of making updates A WEEK AGO. The realtor refuses to make an agreement but he also refuses to break the deal so now we’re stuck with no purchase agreement but we have buyers that want to buy our house (and close in exactly 18 days).

Our realtor assures us she has this under control but we’re starting to get really pissed off. We just put in earnest money on another house, we HAVE to sell this house and we’re not sure that’s going to happen.

What rights do we have? It’s wildly inappropriate that the buyers won’t settle with us but also won’t cancel their contract, right? Do we just sit around and wait for something to happen? Or is there something we can do to expedite this process? We’re at a loss.
