Is more weight of the pandemic on women’s shoulders as opposed to men’s?
Often during emergencies or crises, women are the ones “left behind” to tend to the home or children. Historically, men have been the ones to leave the home to go to war, to seek food/shelter, or to remain at work. Concerning the pandemic, do you feel as if this trend remains true?
Anecdotally, the people I know who have left their jobs/careers during the pandemic for the sake of their children are all women. Why do you think this is? Do you think it is subconsciously assumed that regardless of career, a woman’s first duty is to her home & children, more so than a man’s duty?
Let’s discuss. 🤗
