Dr scamming?
I went to a fertility specialist since we're having trouble conceiving. Our previous dr had my husband do the sperm test and there was low motility. So I met with this new fertility specialist who said we should do 1 round of IUI and if it doesn't work then do IVF. He also said he would look at the sperm under the microscope and give me his opinion. So we did the IUI last month. When I asked about how the sperm looked all he told me was there were 9 million. I probed for more answers and he never looked at the sperm. The IUI was quite painful and he pulled on my cervix to open it more for the catheter to get through and mentioned that the likely issue is the sperm cant make it through since the opening was so small. That IUI failed. And so we agreed to do another this time with different medications. He had me do the ovidrel on a Saturday night, have intercourse, and then do the IUI Monday morning. I think its odd to have us have intercourse when he stated that the sperm can't get through. Then right before the IUI he told me how low the count was 6 million, and how disappointing it is and we will probably end up doing IVF next time. So he killed any hope I had of being pregnant this month. The fact that he brought up IVF during my 2nd IUI feels like he is steering me into getting IVF before the results are in. We did IUI about a year ago on no medications with a previous dr who 1. Never mentioned the cervix opening was too small to put the catheter through. And 2. Allowed my husband time to abstain which his count was in the 14 to 16 milliom range with the previous dr.
At this point it feels like this fertility dr is pushing IVF too hard and is trying to get more money out of me and literally setting me up for failure on this IUI. Emotionally I'm so drained, and I've lost hope that this was going to work.
