Baby won't repeat

Ashley

He'll be two in February and it's almost impossible to get him to repeat words. Admittedly we cuss like sailor's so there aren't really any naughty words to tempt him with. How can I encourage him to speak? I'm at a loss.

My pediatrician said to encourage speaking, just narrate you’re day. Seems like overkill, but it exposes them to so much more language. “Mommy is getting the eggs from the fridge, then the cheese, and we’re going to make scrambled eggs” etc

Of course every child will speak and hit milestones at their own pace But what has worked for my son is repetition. For example, he used to point when he wanted his bottle. For the longest time I would say “here’s baba”, “do you want baba”. After a few day’s he got it and started asking for baba instead of just pointing Also explaining things to him. I will explain everything that is happening throughout the day (even though I know he doesn’t understand) but I think that helps him pick up on a lot of things

He will talk when he’s ready my son just started saying everything at 2 years and 1 month. Not something you can force
