Toilet training - tips and tricks?

Our son is 2yr 4mo. He tells us when he’s soiled his diaper and he’s getting better at taking his pants off and on. He likes to be with us when we use the bathroom and hand us toilet paper. We’ve been putting him on the toilet before baths, and he’s proudly never done anything (he shouts “I did it! All done!” after 5 seconds of nothing). This morning, we put him on right when he woke up and he actually peed!! I sort of ruined it though when I tried to point him down because he stopped immediately and didn’t pee again until his diaper was on (he told me when he did it). We’re not pushing it hard at this point, but any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated!
