Why is it so confusing what trimester your in?

I thought 2nd trimester was end of week 13, then today got this in my email

Is week 12 really 2nd trimester? I’ve seen so many different things!

It’s not saying you’re in you’re second trimester, it’s saying you’re at the end of your first trimester.

If you split 40 weeks into 3, you get 13.333333 meaning that at 13 weeks 3 days you are in your second trimester. Because every woman is different, they don’t know when you actually ovulated or implanted. Which is why they go off of your LMP from the beginning. So that is why they say 14 weeks is the start. Because it’s a safe estimation. Some apps seem to go off the 13 week mark and others go off of the 14 week mark.

2nd trimester starts at 14 weeks or the end of 13 weeks whichever you prefer to say. They say you're at the end of first trimester at week 12 because that is when the chance of loss drops majority and you're close to the end of the first
