Baby having trouble pooping

My son will be 1 month on Friday. He was originally on Goodstart Gentle formula. When he was 2 weeks old, he started having trouble pooping. It would be kind of thick/hard. Last week, his pediatrician switched him to Goodstart Soothe. It has helped his poops become a lot softer but he is still having trouble getting his poops out. I have been sticking a q tip in his butt to make him go.

When I stick the q tip in his butt, he goes perfectly fine. It’s just getting it started that he has trouble with and I don’t know why. I can count on both hands the amount of times he’s actually pooped by himself.

Has anyone else been through this?
