German Roach Infestation:HELP

I’m a stay at home mom.. I clean everyday and I have never seen a roach in my home, however, 3 weeks ago I started seeing some and then more and then more.. I am mortified obviously worried for my child’s health and safety.. I need to know if anyone has ever dealt with this. “German cockroaches” by the way. How do I get rid of them? I had an exterminator come by but still I’m seeing them. Any other suggestions besides exterminator. Although I will have them come in every month, even though I hate the chemicals but I am terrified of the roaches too.
