2 year old stopped napping after bed transition...help!

I’m currently pregnant with baby number two who will be here in December. We decided to buy our just turned 2 year old a “big boy bed” since I’m going to be needing the crib eventually and wanted him to get used to the idea.

The first night was great. He cried a little whenever I left the room, but after 3 times he was fine and slept. Not once did he leave his bed. The next day was his first nap in his new bed, he fell asleep right away and didn’t leave his bed at all.

That night was a different story...he was going in and out of his closet - we have sliding doors so I can’t even safety lock it 🤦🏻‍♀️ and went through one of his drawers. But then when I put his back down he fell asleep.

The past three days now he hasn’t napped at all. All he does is get out of bed and go in his closet or climb the chair in his room or the bed. I keep going in there and putting him in his bed and tucking him in reminding him it’s bed time, but once I leave he’s out of the bed again. I even tell him over the monitor to go to his bed and go “night night” I feel like it’s been a total of 2 times that it actually worked and he listened and went on his bed for a bit 😂

It’s frustrating because now I’m super nervous that he’s just going to stop napping all together and when the baby is here I would like for him to nap. He used to have a perfect sleep routine. Obviously there were the odd days he didn’t nap, but now I’m getting nervous.

Do you think this is normal? Did your child do this? If so, how long did it last? Did they eventually go back to napping or stopped all together?
