Two-Vessel (SUA) cord & C-Section

Brittany

I was diagnosed with a two vessel/Single umbilical artery (SUA) cord at my 20 week ultrasound. I have been seeing a fetal specialist to monitor my son in addition to my OBGYN. So far everything has been going well. However, I had my 30 week appointment today and my doctor wants to schedule a cesarean at 39 weeks. I was told that because SUA babies oxygen levels are low that the risk for long term brain damage during delivery is high. When your body contracts it cuts off blood and oxygen to the baby and SUA babies don’t have the reserve a normal baby would. Just curious if anyone else has had this condition and were told the same thing? Or if they delivery vaginally with no complications?
