Daily Medication for HSV-1?

What medication and dosage do you take daily to suppress transmission to your partner?

I know that 1000mg Valtrex once a day for 5 days is what you get to stop an outbreak, but is that the same dosage as what they would prescribe me for daily medication?

Newly single and I want to make sure I’m good to go and my partner is as safe as possible when the time comes for me to get back out there.
