Should I cancel my drs appointment?
Long story short I’ve been sick for weeks. When it first started it was so bad that I had to go to the hospital because I couldn’t breathe. I actually went to urgent care and they sent me to the ER because my pulse ox or whatever was really really bad and they called me delirious and they didn’t even let me leave, (not saying that In a bad way they are doctors and have to say that when it’s necessary) they said they couldn’t let me drive like that so I had to leave my car in their parking lot. Their literal owner face timed me and said he would make sure my car would be watched until I could come back for it but that he cares about his patients and couldn’t in good conscience let me drive myself to the ER in the condition I was in so my mother came and got me.
I ended up being diagnosed with a severe viral respiratory infection. Treatment was steroids and cough medication.
I have been to urgent care again since then and now I’m on nebulizer treatments.
My PCP Is an hour away. It’s a lot of gas to get there and back. I know you all think I’m dumb for keeping a doctor who is an hour away from me but every single time I went to a new doctor they just didn’t compare to him. There is a reason I keep him, he is a damn good doctor.
Well, this shit just WOULD NOT let up and I’ve been on steroids for weeks and I have this relentless cough and I felt like it had taken a turn for the worse again so I called and made an appointment with my PCP explaining everything and told him I think I need antibiotics and want to be checked out to see if he thinks I need them.
But then I wake up the past few days, feeling a lot better. My cough isn’t as bad, I feel like it’s clearing up a lot. I can breathe A LOT better like there is a huge difference in my ability to breathe. I don’t wake up in the middle of the night anymore with what can’t be described other than by saying I was literally suffocating.
I considered canceling the app. It’s a lot of gas money and I mean I don’t see what he is going to be able to do I’m already on everything besides antibiotics.
But this shit has lasted SO. DAMN. LONG.
I feel like I should go anyways, even though I’m better i feel like it’s probably the smarter thing to go but am I wasting mine and my doctors time?
And yes I was tested for COVID. Twice. The ER dr wore a hazmat suit and i was quarantined in my own room instead of inside one of the curtains in the ER because I was very symptomatic. What a bad time to have a respiratory infection right? It was negative. Then I went back 14 days later to be tested again, negative. I know I’m going to get that question so I brought it up.
Another thing I think is weird. Why didn’t anyone put me on antibiotics? I know they said it was viral but it was a respiratory INFECTION that I’m pretty sure I was just made to fight off all by myself. Maybe someone can clarify that with me here
