Is it weird or not?

Is it weird to slide into a guys dms? So basically I was on bumble aaages ago and this guy popped up and I accidentally swiped left, he was very cute, goes to the same uni as me etc. Then a couple of weeks ago he randomly popped up on the people to follow suggestions on Insta, would it be odd to like.... Follow him and maybe message him? I remember he was very much my type, the only thing is I saw he's following this guy I went on like 3 dates with last December and then ended it with (nicely, it didn't end badly), so idk if that would make it weird? Please give me some advice, I'm hopeless at this stuff lol
