HELP!!

I'm on the NuvaRing and ever since I put a new one in I can never get it to stay in right. Ever since I put it in its kept on trying to slide out. No matter how far I push it up in there it won't stay in. I had to put it in while I was still on my period because it took 6 days for it to get here. I've only had this ring in since Oct, 8th. Am I still protected even tho it keeps slipping out? I always have to push it back in. It doesn't fall all the way out but the end of it sometimes pokes out.
