Birth control and possibly ?

I have the birth control implant and I’ve been having symptoms of being pregnant for a while now, I believe a week and a half, but I haven’t had my period since July 31st, spotting here and there. But it’s never new blood, all old. What do I do? I can’t test because I don’t have a way of getting ahold of one or getting to a store, and my mother doesn’t believe me. I know the chances of me being pregnant are super low but something in me just doesn’t feel correct, I’ve been extra hungry and super tired, a little nauseous.

I have had the nexplanon for over 5 years and never got pregnant with unprotected sex being the only sex I had while on the implant. The month I took it out I got pregnant. I had pregnancy symptoms and very odd periods or even no periods for months on the implant! I had old blood spotting more than periods as well it was all totally normal! If anything maybe tell your mom you feel like you have a UTI or something to get you to a doctor office so they can give you a test there and ask to have your mom leave the room!

The nexplanon is almost more effective than getting your tubes tied, so I wouldn’t worry if I were you. I think there’s only been one recorded case in the US of someone getting pregnant on the nexplanon when they followed the instructions and it was installed properly, so the chances are astronomically small if you waited at least a week or two after installation to have sex unprotected. I have one too and it’s common to get weird symptoms after having in placed. Keep in mind that the symptoms of early pregnancy are exactly the same as the symptoms of PMS and it’s likely just some spotting and PMS symptoms as your body adjusts to the implant. I’ve had one or two periods and then a time of weird spotting and symptoms since getting mine (I’m 370 days late on my period currently) and they were super weird like what you’re describing. The nexplanon is a progesterone-only birth control and it can cause weird pregnancy-like symptoms but they’re nothing to worry about and likely your body just adjusting to your new hormone levels. If they did a pregnancy test before placing it (which they are required to do) and you waited at least a week to have sex without a condom after having it placed, provided you can still feel your implant in the proper position in your arm, then it’s just weird spotting. Relax and maybe go to your doctor if it persists longer than a week or two, because it could just be breakthrough bleeding from your body trying to have a period and they’ll give you a low dose birth control pill to help you stay in the period-free zone. You’re definitely not pregnant, though. 😌
