When you put in your first ever tampon did it burn going in, sitting, and coming out?

This is my second time ever putting in a tampon, but the 1st time in about 3 years.
My experience I had today was that it burned putting it in, and I decided to take it out cause it burned as I was just sitting/ standing and didn’t feel normal, so when I took it out it burned worse than when I put it in, and made my peeing afterwards burn more...did I do something wrong? Should I not be using tampons? Please help, or give me advice 🥺 I’m sick of using pads especially since I’m now in college, and I feel icky with always using pads.

If it was hurting when you were sitting and standing, you may not have put it in far enough. Also, pulling a tampon out when it is still dry always burns!

Make sure you’ve got the right size for your flow. If I put in one too big for that day I know it almost immediately, and I have been using them for like 20 years. Try sizing down, it shouldn’t hurt to wear one if it’s the right size and matches your flow.

I’m also in college and used a tampon for the first time in ages this weekend. I found that it finally appeals to me and now it doesn’t feel as weird. This summer I had my first sexual experiences so I feel like tampons feel less invasive. More than anything I really am tired of pads too
