Any ideas for knotty long hair

After I shower my hair is one big knot ball... does anyone have any ideas how I can brush it with out pulling half my hair out and without having all the pain ???

Lots and lots of hair detangler and a Wet Brush

Wide tooth comb. 
Only comb wet hair and do it very very carefully. Never brush while hair is wet. Wet hair is fragile, breakable hair. 
Always comb before you wash your hair.

Some kind of leave in conditioner or multi-use detangler. I use this one, but there are lots out there. Also a wide toothed comb before trying to brush.

My advice is to use a whole lot of conditioner in the shower put it in your hair and let it sit for a bit and do not wash it out brush your hair straight out with a wet brush while you’re still in the shower then rinse the conditioner out but try not to tangle your hair again. When you get out of the shower dry your hair put in some leave in conditioner and brush it out again. Using a blow dryer will produce less tangles than a towel. If you have too many tangles for a brush use a wide tooth comb and then a brush
