Home birth experiences? UK ONLY

Hi all,
With the pandemic seemingly only getting worse, I’m considering a home birth should things not get any better. I am due in March so there is time yet! 
I’m just wondering what peoples experiences were with home births in the past?

I asked my midwife about a potential home birth I’m from Staffordshire area due January. She advised that even though it’s an option it’s not a given. You have to call ahead at present to let them know you are in active labour. If they don’t have the staff available you are currently being told to go to hospital regardless of whether you planned a home birth depending on staffing levels on that day. So everything is so uncertain 😪 I was planning on going to my local birthing centre now I have to go to the big hospital this is baby 3 and I feel so sad I can’t go to the place of my choosing
