My boyfriend’s mom is a meth addict and I am scared of her. Please give me advice

My boyfriend’s mother is a severe meth addict. We have tried to help her stay with us and get clean countless times over the five years I have been with him. We have two kids (one is his from a previous relationship and we have a daughter together). She was supposed to go to treatment ordered by her probation officer because over a year ago, she got caught with meth on her. She hasn’t worked in 20 years, she is homeless, she’s mean, rude, a thief, and just not someone I want to expose myself or my kids to.

Well, since she didn’t go to treatment, she has been hiding out with her boyfriend because there is now a warrant for her arrest. She is on my boyfriend’s phone plan and when he couldn’t get ahold of her for 3 weeks, he shut her phone off. She reached out to him cussing him out and saying how she wishes she would have given him up, how I am a C U Next Tuesday and how she will come after us and sue him for turning off his phone (LOL) and sue me because she thinks I called the police on her resulting in her getting caught with meth. The woman is BAT SHIT CRAZY.

I do not feel safe with her knowing where we live, what cars we drive, or where our children are. I told my boyfriend she is absolutely not allowed around us until she turns her life around for real and that will take a very very long time. He got upset with me because he wants to help her (understandably) but I need to protect my family from her and her lifestyle.

I am tempted to see what I can do as far as a possible restraining order (at least for myself and my daughter) but I think it would absolutely break his heart. I know his mom is going to call in a matter of months and want to come over or claim she has changed, but it is just the same old sad song and she knows she can manipulate my boyfriend like that. What should I do? I do not want anything to do with her for a very long time.
