Who should ultimately make feeding decisions with an infant?

So I’ve been seeing these posts about baby daddy’s allowing girlfriends to breastfeed and not telling the mom. And dads feeding formula even though mom is busting her butt to breast feed. It’s such a conundrum for me, because I think parents should strive to be a team, but in the same breath, I would lose my mind if either of those scenarios happened. I asked my so what he thinks and he said unless the mom is unfit, she should make those calls, while breastfeeding. How does everyone else feel about this?

I think it would be best if they agreed but at the end of the day, mom would be the one deciding if her body is used to feed baby so it should be her choice. I’d be livid if my SO did either of these things, especially because breastfeeding is soo hard

They’re co-parents. They need to come to an agreement TOGETHER. If dad has the baby, mom needs to send breast milk our dad will have to provide formula. Baby’s got to eat. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Parenting is a team sport but mom gets more say with breastfeeding. (While we know breastfeeding is more beneficial, if mom really can't do it, she shouldn't be bullied about it. And if there's frozen milk, there's no point in using the formula. That's just wasteful. I remember that post.) Personally, I don't have an issue with wetnursing but I know some people aren't ok with it. I have a handful of friends where if our kids were the same age, we wouldn't have batted an eye at one of the others feeding them. In the girlfriend situation, I would have looked into what medical tests La Leche League requires for donation and asked her to get the tests done for peace of mind.

Honestly... If someone else wanted to breastfeed my kids while I wasn't around... that'd be awesome 😂😂 as long as they're not like sick or on drugs or have some disease that could be passed through breastmilk. My husband and I are together so this isn't anything that's ever really come up, but I'm trying to imagine if we weren't together and I knew his girlfriend and she wanted to breastfeed our kid while I wasn't around. I honestly think it's fine. Idk WHY she'd WANT to do that if she had frozen milk, but whatever man 😂 fresh always tastes better!

I’m sorry if someone else nursed my baby I would be livid (if it wasn’t an emergency or something) especially dad’s girlfriend. And if someone gave me baby formula I would be pissed off. I guess I believe that moms get the final say in feeding baby.

Mom’s body, mom’s choice when it comes to breastfeeding. Other feeding decisions it should be a joint decision.

I think both parents should be allowed go express their thoughts and the other listen and understand. Though I also believe a mother shouldn’t be forced to breastfeed or forced to stop breastfeeding, I also don’t believe in wet nurses without strict background checks and approval of both parents not just one parent.
