If they remembered your birthday (or Valentine’s Day, anniversary, or whatever it is) knew it was important to you, had agreed to spend it with you, then canceled day of, would you dump them?

Definitely depends. A legitimate reason to cancel, then no. An excuse like he wanted to hang out with friends/someone else instead last minute, then yeah maybe. Especially a birthday or anniversary, that’s just rude if you cancel for something silly.

It’s one thing if it’s new, and he standing you up or blowing you off that’s not cool, but if you’ve been together for several years, and you don’t remind them or let them know ahead of time that it’s coming up pay our anniversary is coming up in a week hey our anniversary is in two weeks, hey it’s in three days etc., or they tell you ahead of time hey I have to go out of town or my family is having surgery or an actual reason not I just want to hang out with my friends and get drunk type of situation or if they at least make it up to you and take you out the day before the day after or something like that it all depends on the situation, if it’s a new situation he standing you up he setting a precedent of what he can get away with. The lack of respect, he’s seeing what you will tolerate and seeing what he can get away with and still keep you around he’s testing the boundaries. But you allowing the behavior it teaches him that you’re not going anywhere and that you’ll tolerate whatever just so that you won’t be alone. But you know you deserve better than that. Don’t tolerate BS, don’t allow a guy to disrespect you, and if your gut is telling you something is wrong with the situation your gut is probably right and you should walk away. But if he has a legitimate excuse like he was on his way and he’s having car problems or Someone has emergency surgery or some thing in his family he’s got to take him to the ER etc. that’s a legitimate excuse, but if he says I want to hang out with my friends and get high or get drunk that’s not cool. Especially if it keeps happening, absolutely not you walk away from that crap￼￼.
