Wash your hands and use curbside when applicable...

Melanie

So I posted this on my vent app but I felt like this was important to share with a larger community of people. I will not share where I work though some may be able to guess, I am not subtle. Let’s call this a PSA to take extra precautions around shopping such as contact free delivery, curbside, and washing your hands after handling products and please if your sick stay home.

FYI: OPINIONS are contained in this post.

Someone explain to me how even though Covid numbers are the worse they have ever been in the us right now restrictions are less severe. To be clear, I’m not even talking about for the public with restaurants and bar closings, schools closing or stay at home mandates. I get the government is being overly cautious and trying to prevent uprising not from the people who are tired of Covid (because let’s face it we all are) but those who are entitled.

I would like to know how my work place STILL isn’t giving Covid bonus pay (I believe we get two weeks paid if we GET Covid but the company’s so cheap they probably took that away), our hours and open hours are still the same and our duties are increased and they somehow want us to clean (guess what germs are invisible to the naked eye and on paper (guess what tends to not be prioritized), we FINALLY have a curbside pickup that’s halfway decent (maybe 75% still major flaws with the app and we cater to the elderly..... who don’t use apps.... or the internet..... also this is 7+ months later.... they didn’t change much in the app hence why there’s flaws this should have taken two months too and that’s incredibly generous)........

Most importantly, I was exposed to covid. Which is kinda amusing considering that since the start of Covid I left the state technically three times but with extra precautions I managed to stay healthy. My mom tested positive and I live with her so I am exposed to it everyday while she is still contagious, again kinda amusing since she literally only goes to work and comes home MAYBE once a month goes grocery shopping to get out of the house but she brings it home.

Anyways, I’ve been exposed and I work in retail with a pharmacy as the main component of our store where the elderly and other people who are high at risk shop. Do I need to quarantine for 14 days or get a negative test result before coming back to work?

Nope.

Despite numbers climbing (the positivity rate for my county is the highest it’s been at 17+%) they changed our policy to as long as we are asymptomatic we can work.

I still got tested and am currently negative as of yesterday when the test was performed but that’s absolutely ridiculous. We have at least three customers who are still currently doing chemo treatments. Again, we cater to the elderly, we still get our bus in from the senior living facility near us where they can come and shop once a week.

WHAT THE HECK!

This is the whole point of what I’ve been complaining about for over a year at this point. This company does not care about me as an employee and they certainly don’t care about you the consumer. I still got tested because I didn’t want to risk being asymptomatic and getting someone high risk infected. As someone who has had family members die from cancer or be in long term hospitals or hook up to ventilators and watched them struggle to breathe.... I don’t want to be responsible for someone’s death because my work place cares more about their bottom line then their consumer base. I will continue to work as long as I am asymptomatic AND test negative and I’m hoping to retest in another week.

Ps my brother works for McDonald’s, whose lobby is closed he needs a negative test before he can come back to work.

I’m just saying.
