WWYD (read description first)
I would like the opinions of other healthcare workers but anyone can answer.
So I applied and did an interview for direct care worker for a well known cerebral palsy organization. I don’t know much about CP but the basics.
I am willing to learn and become more knowledgeable. I do know about the company and I think their background story is inspirational. This job has an 1199 union. Which is fantastic! They are willing to pay for my schooling.
I just got a call back from an urgent care that wants to do an interview Wednesday with me. It is receptionist like work. I do like the idea of this job because it deals with insurance and paperwork which I don’t have experience in. I would love to gain this experience because it’s helpful and free. I am a PCT so I don’t have the slightest clue how to deal with paperwork. The good thing is that they will train you. The bad thing is, I would be losing my venipuncture and ekg skills. Also, there’s one 12 hr shift required a week. 😬
My brother works at a city hospital. They’re hiring for patient care technicians/associates and I wanted more than anything to work in the hospital. They also have a union where they help immensely. He gave his supervisor my resume who then passed it on to hr recruitment. He says they will be calling me soon. It’s the waiting game for now.
I do know that the two other jobs above I can start immediately. I’m really hesitant to do so because I don’t want to leave the employer in a bad place if the hospital offer comes through. Although, I can’t afford to not work for the time being. I prefer jobs with a union because I do plan to go back to school to be a nurse.
I’m not sure what to do... am I thinking too hard about it?
