Any hairdressers who are also moms? What is it like?

I am thinking of becoming a hairdresser. I have a 13 month old and plan to have 2 more kids eventually. I am wondering what this career is like as a mom. I am concerned about work/life balance. I would also most likely want to do booth rental, so if you have any experience with that I’d like to hear about it! Thank you.

I’ve been doing hair for 8 years and I’m a single mom to an 11 year old. If I could go back I definitely would’ve picked a different career path. While I love what I do, it’s very draining. Some days I have a hard time wanting to even speak to anyone once I get home let alone doing homework and bath time. And also with being a hairdresser you work nights and weekends. It’s very hard to make a good living without nights and weekends, which makes it hard to be involved in school functions or sports with my son.

I found it difficult with school runs if im honest luckily I had someone who I could rely on to pick him up from school if u have someone to look after your children on a Saturday is helpful as ur expected to Saturdays in most salons but it can work well also mobile is easier to manage
