Pediatrician ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
My little man went to his 4 month well visit today. As most of you know, it includes shots in each leg. Well, Iโve been doing some research to find something that may lessen the pain of injections and found out you can ask the pediatrician to apply a topical anesthetic to help with pain.
So, yesterday I called and the nurse said it was completely fine and just to let her know when we come in for shots and s put it on.
We go in today and wait over an hour to be seen by the doctor, then once she comes in she says hi and proceeds to say โso I know your under the impression that we can give topical anesthetics so well give it to you today but after today, we wonโt be providing it anymore. The babies are fine and just cry for a second so they donโt really need it and itโs not covered by insuranceโ
Well let me tell you it was MAGIC. He got it put on and didnโt cry AT ALL for the shots. It made me feel so much better as a parent , not having that guilt and hearing my baby screaming in pain. I just feel like as a pediatrician, you should do what you can to help the patient and if it means putting a DAB of medication on a baby because the parent asked to, then I donโt see what the problem is. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ I will GLADLY pay out of pocket for that again because it helped him. Iโm just upset I guess โน๏ธ
