Thoughts on waiting to announce name?

Question

What are your thoughts or experiences on waiting to announce the babies name until he/she is born? I also want to announce the gender by sending a card. I'm not risking anything with covid going around.

We answered " we have a list with favourite names and will decide when we see baby". 
Did that with both our kids.

We had my daughters name as soon as we found out she was a girl at 20 weeks but didn’t let anyone know until she was born. Mostly just incase we decided to change it last minute

We didn't know the sex or fully decide on a name until baby was born. We wanted to make sure the name fit the baby. When we decided for sure a few hours after birth, we just texted close family with a picture, name, and birth stats. Over the next few weeks we gradually announced to people via text, then posted a birth story from the baby's perspective on Facebook to announce there. On Facebook we didn't do any pictures of baby's face or her full name.

In Finland it's not uncommon to wait 2-4 weeks AFTER the baby is born, and then reveal the name at the christening/naming party..

I want to wait to announce the name until birth to avoid other people’s opinions swaying my decision. My husband on the other hand wants to tell people.

I refuse to settle on a name until we've met the baby at birth and I refuse to talk to people about the names on our lists. We don't need anyone's permission or approval and I don't want anyone else's opinions. I also don't want to deal with really liking a name, telling people, baby's born and the name doesn't fit, then having to deal with, "that's not their name, we ended up naming them this."

We were team green and kept our name options secret until after birth. I didn’t want anyone else’s input on the names we chose and people are far less likely to say something negative after the child is here and named. We did it that way for both kids and it was great. Plus, it also took away the issue of changing our minds and already having stuff with a name we decided not to use. We had a girl name picked out that I was so sure of all pregnancy. It just felt right. Then when my husband told me we had a girl and I saw her, the name wasn’t right anymore and we went with a different one.

We announced name and gender at birth. We knew both but didn’t want to share before. The family that didn’t find out right away did when we sent out the birth announcements a week and a half later.
