Should I break off my relationship?

Kardilian

Ugh so, I thought I'd do a poll to get outside perspectives.

I've been in a long distance relationship with someone who was a great friend first, and we mesh super well together. We have a lot of common interests and hobbies and can talk about everything.

But he has NPD (narcissistic personality disorder with borderline traits) and he is working on it, and very open about it. I have been in toxic relationships before and discussed this with him in depth. He so far, has given me no sign he is actually toxic or abusive, rather, he us hypervigilant about not being now. (I have known him since June.)

But, as anyone who has NPD, he has the idealizion and devaluation cycle. His is just love bombing & then ignoring or lack of attention.

Well, I have attachment issues and being ignored and feeling disconnected drives me insane. AND we are here and I've complained multiple times now wanting to have more connection, and he's finding every reason to be busy now all the time. He used to like talking to me & having deep conversations and now it feels fake.

I'm really not sure if I should even keep going in this relationship. I'm not fully done, because theres a solid foundation in the relationship, but I'm not sold on the relationship anymore & no longer feeling interested in my partner as a result of this.

I'm not sure this is what I want. But I don't really know what I do want. Relationships seem difficult.

I tried to talk to him about it today and he tried to see what he could do for like 20 minutes, then said he had felt unwell today, and then left to go on a walk for 3 hours with a friend.

I also sent him a gift, he got it today but didn't open it.
