Christmas tree with just the family

So my husband and I have always gone tree shopping with his family. But this year I just want to start our own tradition and do it on our own with our daughter. (Before it was literally us 3 and 8 other people). Which is just a ridiculous amount for Christmas tree shopping, ESPECIALLY during a pandemic.

We do all other events with them and I just want to do this as a small family.

None of them understand why I want to do it on our own. They think we should keep the tradition of doing it with his whole side, because that’s how they’ve always done it.

Am I terrible for wanting this one day? We will literally (maybe) see them for Christmas 25 days later 😭
