Birth control stopped working?!

Can birth control stop working? Like a few months ago i started spotting the 3rd week( before the 4th when my period starts) and the spotting would gradually get worse until my period started and that was already annoying, not being able to enjoy being off my period but recently , this month I started spotting before the first week of pills was even over and it’s been getting gradually worse and it’s about to be on the 3rd week like wtf??! So can birth control pills just stop working like this? And does that mean it won’t prevent pregnancy either?
