Low dose of insulin?

Hi,
Wondering what you all were started on for 1x a day insulin? Was told they wanted to have me take a low dose of long acting before bed.. they told me to take 8- wondering what others started at and how it progressed?

Thanks all; they started me at 8 with a intermediate lasting and it’s certainly kept my fasting numbers around 80 but makes me feel a little off, so wondering if it’s too high a dose.. I’ll ask them this week. Appreciate everyone’s input!

I started at 10 units and am still on 10 units of the long acting only at night.

I started at 10 and it increased steadily at first and then I needed to adjust it every couple weeks. I needed it for my fasting numbers and ended at a pretty high dose actually but never needed for meals.

I started with 10 of regular and 10 of long acting at dinner and had the long acting adjusted to 14 then 16. I’ve been at 16 units for a month now and things have been stable, and they haven’t needed to adjust my regular insulin. I’m also still early in my pregnancy (16 weeks) but they caught the GD at 8w. They normally adjust it by 2 units each week if it’s not bringing your fasting down enough. Fasting numbers are SO TRICKY they suck. Good luck! You got this 😊😊
